[Evangeline kisses his cheek, then heads to the kitchen to help her dad.]

Oh, no, it'd be rude to leave you all alone. Besides, I want to hear more about you! How did you meet my daughter?

[Peter flushes beautifully with the kiss and the adoration is clear on his face as he watches Evangeline leave for the kitchen. He turns to answer her mother's question with a doting grin.]

Would you believe me if I said it was love at first sight?

"I'd believe that. You have the look of a man smitten."

[She meant more where they met, in what circumstance, etc. but she's not going to contest love at first sight.]

[Peter's smile only brightens at that. Good, he's glad others can see it so readily. It just proves to him more firmly that his love must be real.

That said he did pick up on the unspoken aspect of the question thankfully.]

There's a flower shop I like to go to that happens to be in your daughter's neighborhood. I watched her pass by at least two or three times before I worked up the nerve to go introduce myself.

[He's not lying either, it was at least two or three times. Probably more like thirty or fourty times and he'd been stalking her for months by the time he finally introduced himself.]

"I should've known. She loves that flower hairpin you gave her, I hardly ever see her without it these days."

[Evangeline's a sucker for flowers from her boyfriend, of any variety.]

[Peter softens at that.]

Good.

[He casts a glance to the kitchen and then leans towards Sara.]

Don't tell her this but I had it made for her. I noticed the flowers she liked and had it custom ordered. I was relieved it turned out so well.

"Your secret is safe with me. I'm happy to know you're spoiling her the way she deserves."

How could I not? She deserves every bit of it. She's very good to me.

[And honest he means that in more ways than lewd ones.]

"Good, good. So when are you going to propose to her properly?"

[Peter lights up brilliantly.]

[Evangeline obviously loved her parents. If they liked him and he even asked for their consent he could only imagine she'd be even happier for the eventual proposal.]

"Of course. She's happier now than she's ever been, and I would know. Why wouldn't I give you my blessing?"

[Evangeline would be absolutely thrilled, it's true.]

Ahaha, well, better to be cautious than assume anything, right?

[Because I was stalking your daughter for months, crawling into her bedroom and humping her leg like a dog in heat.]

[Yeah her parents would have Opinions about that.]

"Caution is fine, but my girl deserves the married life of her dreams."

I think she does too. I just hope I'm part of those dreams.

[Naturally it's more than that but he's not about to tattle on her mother or anything. Instead he's quick to cross over to Evangeline's side again.]

How's the cooking going?

Almost done! I thought I'd come recruit you for table-setting.

[Peter does like to be helpful, and setting a table is a lot easier than cooking.]

[He stops before he skips off though to offer an arm out to Evangeline's mother. His tone is playful to make up for the misstep of not really giving a damn about anyone but Evangeline.]

Oops, don't want to leave anyone behind!

He absolutely is. The perfect boyfriend in every way that matters.
